About The Potters House

Vision & Mission

Our vision is to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ throughout Upper Darby and the world.

Our mission: The Christian Fellowship Ministries take seriously Christ's commission to "go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature." Therefore, our mission as a fellowship has always been to fufill Christ's Great Commission through discipleship, church planting, and world evangelism. It was Christ Himself who commanded His followers to "make disciples of all the nations," and the simple obedience to this command by our founding Pastor Wayman Mitchell that has been imparted as our fellowship's vision.

With this focus, we are constantly endeavoring to reach unsaved and unchurched people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to spread the good news of God's love and saving grace throughout the world. Whether we use Christian bands, movies, dramas, street preaching, or door-to-door evangelism, our focus and mission is to help lead people into their own personal relationship with the Savior Jesus Christ.

"The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, And he who wins souls is wise."
Proverbs 11:30

How to Get Saved The first step in a relationship is always talking.

The Gospel is Good News in a World of Dying Virtue. In a world that is coming apart at the seams, there is hope for you! Jesus Christ died on a cross to pay the consequences of our sins for us. Jesus was the Son of God, and He has the power to free you from your sins, addictions, and shortcomings. He is always willing to forgive, no matter where you've been or what you've done.

Experience the changed life that is waiting for you, if you'd only pray... To receive Jesus into your heart, and be forgiven of your sins, pray something like this:

"Jesus, I admit that I'm a sinner. Forgive me for my sins, and come into my heart. I give my life to you right now. In your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen."

If you prayed this prayer, and meant it in your heart, then Jesus has just washed away all of your sins! It's important that you maintain your salvation. Start by finding a local Christian church where the Gospel is preached, and learning more about Jesus. If you are in the Philadelphia area, you are welcome at 45 Garrett Rd., Upper Darby, PA 19082

We Believe

That Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God and the only Savior from sin.
That Jesus Christ is the Great Physician and the Healer of the body and soul through the blood atonement.
That Jesus Christ is the baptizer with the Holy Ghost today, just as He was on the Day of Pentecost.
That Jesus Christ is the soon-coming King, coming back to the earth again as the only hope for our dying world.
That Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Primary Experiences of the Christian Life

There are three primary experiences of the Christian life: Salvation, Water Baptism, and the Holy Spirit Baptism.

Salvation
• Salvation is initiated by a prayer of faith in Jesus.
• Salvation is completed by God's grace.
• Salvation is maintained by a lifestyle of Biblical righteousness.
• Salvation is demonstrated by works.
• Salvation is lost when we sin and do not repent.
• Salvation is necessary to enter Heaven in eternity.

Water Baptism
• Water Baptism was exemplified by Christ.
• Water Baptism is not necessary to be saved, but is definitely an important Christian experience not to be negated.
• Water Baptism is a public demonstration of faith in Jesus Christ.
• Water Baptism is executed in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.

Holy Ghost Baptism
• Holy Spirit Baptism is evidenced by speaking in tongues.
• Holy Spirit Baptism is an experience different and distinct from Salvation or Water Baptism.

Primary Responsibilities for each Christian

There are four primary responsibilities of each Christian: Prayer, Outreach, Reading the Bible, and Fellowship.

• Daily Prayer - Seeking God in prayer is a fundamental necessity of maintaining our relationship with Him.
• Outreach - Sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others.
• Reading the Bible - Feeding our spirit with the Word of God, and living thereby.
• Fellowship - Gathering together in a local assembly of believers for worship and admonition, and spiritually enriching camaraderie with other believers.

Pastor Jon Overson

Our leadership believes strongly in raising up disciples through the preaching and teaching of the word so that in turn they will go and take the gospel to the nations of the world.
