ABOUT US

WHAT TO EXPECT

The Potter’s House is a Pentecostal, Bible-believing, evangelistic church. Our fellowship was founded in Prescott, AZ by Pastor Wayman Mitchell. In 1970, many hippies were coming to Christ and finding a place in our ministry. As God transformed the lives of these converts, the Prescott church trained up and sponsored disciples to begin new works. At first, churches were planted in Arizona, then in other states, and then internationally.

OUR HISTORY

In 1995, Pastor Gibbs Peterson, his wife Marian and their three children came to Upper Darby from Santa Fe, NM. They began a brand-new church in a rented storefront at 58 Garrett Rd. In 1999, the church became self-supporting and no longer required contributions from the Santa Fe congregation. Two years later, the church was able to purchase the building across the street at 45 Garrett Rd. In 2004, Pastor Jon Overson became the new pastor of the Potter's House. He, his wife Colleen, and their two children had been missionaries in Africa for 14 years. Our church in Upper Darby has a heart for the nations of the world and for immigrants in our city. We are a multi-ethnic congregation with people from Kenya, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Trinidad, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Nigeria, France, Pakistan, Congo, New Jersey, Arizona and of course Delaware County.

Two new churches have been planted by our Upper Darby congregation: Reading, PA (Pastor Fidelis and Cadi Nyembo), and Clayton, NC (Pastor Togba and Ruth Kollie). Beginning on April 14th, 2024, we hope to expand our ministry by holding Sunday evening services at 144 Lawrence Rd in Broomall, PA. Our vision is to plant many more churches in the years to come. We also labor together alongside other mid-Atlantic Fellowship churches in prayer, preaching, friendship, and evangelism.

OUR VISION
The vision of Christian Fellowship Ministries is to fulfill Jesus's Great Commission in Mark 16:15 "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every person." To achieve this, the foundations of our Fellowship can be summed up as: Changing LivesMaking Disciples - Reaching the World.
