OUR PASTOR
Pastor Jon Overson grew up in Bullhead City, AZ, where he gave his life to Jesus in 1975. He married Colleen in 1977 and later pastored churches in Arizona and Georgia. Pastor Overson felt a burden to reach Africa after watching the movie Some Through the Fire. In 1990, the opportunity arose to become a missionary to Uganda. At this time, Uganda had just been through a civil war. Conditions there were very poor. However, after the Oversons went through many trials, the Ugandan church was growing and full of dedicated disciples. This church was later taken over by Pastor Richard Taddwa and his wife Margaret. Today it is a leadership church that has planted many churches throughout Africa.
Later, Pastor Overson pioneered two churches in South Africa: the first in East London and the second in Cape Town. The Oversons spent a total of 14 years in Africa before returning to the United States in 2004.
Here in Upper Darby, Pastor Overson has labored to evangelize the lost, shepherd the congregation, and make disciples. Under his guidance, two Upper Darby couples have pioneered churches of their own, in Reading, PA and Clayton, NC.
Pastor Jon and Colleen Overson have been blessed with two children and six grandchildren.
